I'm a mental health professional desparately trying to keep that optimism and non-jaded attitude I had when I decided to enter this career path. So far I've done an AmeriCorps stint and worked with severe/profound mentally handicapped children at their school, and mainstream at-risk kids grades 4-7 after school, given countless IQ tests, worked as a counseling intern with male inmates in a high-security prison, and gotten my Master's degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology. Currently I work with substance abuse/addiction, with the odd general mental health case thrown in, and I'm also the assessment specialist. My eventual career goal is a college counseling center... I think. I'm still searching for my purpose in life, and so far I haven't developed much of a life outside my career path. I post random stuff when the mood strikes me, some deep, some not so much.
